Shared Pathways
Huatoki Walkway
The section between Parsons and Maratahu streets will be upgraded to create a very good quality off-road route between Vogeltown and the central city. This will involved levelling off the high bits and filling in the low bits. The path will be 2.5m wide in most places and will feature compacted gravel along most of its length but there will be a light chip seal on some of the steeper sections, for user safety
Timeline: Work has begun and is expected to finish in lateMay. Work has started at the Maratahu Street entrance heading upstream, there will be some temporary closures. Check out the Huatoki Pathway map.
Mangaotuku Walkway
Creating an off road connection between Marfell down towards the Coastal Walkway catering for St Josephs, Devon Intermediate and West End School students.
Timeline: Work began in late November and will finish in March.
Current status: Work on the Mangaotuku has been completed, with the finishing touches on signage happening now. Check out the Mangaotuku Pathway map.
Mangati Walkway
An off road link from the Coastal Walkway through to De Haviland Drive has been completed. Check out the Mangati Pathway map.
Te Henui Walkway
Path widening where possible, surface upgrade and work to improve some of the steep gradients. Check out Te Henui Pathway map.
Timeline: Approval has been received for the placement of two bridges near Waarangi Pa. They are now out for design.
Current status: Path upgrades between Devon Street East and the Coastal Walkway are complete.
Waiwhakaiho Walkway
Improving the surface of the Waiwhakaiho pathway connecting Riversdale Drive across to the netball courts.
Timeline: Work began in late November and will finish in April.
Current status: Work on the Waiwhakaiho Walkway has been completed from Riversdale Drive down to the Netball Courts. Check out the Waiwhakaiho Pathway map.
